Make sight word learning interactive and engaging with this Digital HMH Into Reading First Grade Heart Words Slideshow. This resource supports students in mastering irregular letter-sound correspondences through visual and auditory practice.
Heart Words are sight words with parts that are either permanently irregular or temporarily irregular. Permanently irregular words include letter-sound correspondences that can’t be decoded or appear in only a few words. Temporarily irregular words contain letter-sound correspondences students have not yet learned in their phonics sequence.
This slideshow aligns with the HMH Into Reading First Grade curriculum, offering a clear and structured way to reinforce word recognition skills. Teachers can use it for whole-group lessons, small group instruction, or digital literacy centers. The visual cues and repetition help students internalize each word’s unique spelling pattern, building both reading fluency and confidence.
